SNAP Funds to be Reinstated
According to an announcement by the New York Times, a federal judge ordered the Trump administration to continue paying for food stamps during the federal shutdown. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, aids roughly 42 million people and was set to run out of funds on Saturday without intervention. The judge ordered distribution of funds “as soon as possible. The timeline for sending the benefits to the recipients is unclear; however, President Trump said late Friday that "the administration would provide the funding for food stamps, but only once a federal court could clarify 'how we can legally' supply the money."
Winter Shelter to open in SW CR Nov. 15 at 4pm
The Winter shelter, previously operated by Willis Dady Homeless Services, will open Nov. 15 at 4pm at 1027 12th Avenue SW. Those needing to utilize this service can call (319) 366-7999 for more information.
Linn County Food Pantry Map Now Available
Linn County and its community partners recently created a food pantry map for Linn County. Residents can select a pin on the map to see information about the selected food pantry including services provided, hours of operation, location address, contact information, and directions (walking, driving, and bus routes) to the pantry location.
Winter Weather Items Needed
Winter is coming and the Linn County Mental Health Access Center and the Willis Dady Homeless Shelter are collecting new or gently used winter clothing to support those in need.

Donations of all sizes and genders are welcome at the Mental Health Access Center. They can be dropped off any time before November 9 at the Linn County Mental Health Access Center, 501 13th St. NW, Cedar Rapids. The Access Center is open 24/7.
